Glittering bars, mouth-watering restaurants and cultural gems

Perched on Florida’s scenic Gulf Coast, you’ll find the electric port of Tampa. From here, we’ll take you cruising to the sun-soaked islands of the Caribbean and beyond.

There’s so much to do during your time in port, as Tampa is home to some of the most distinctive and character-filled neighbourhoods in Florida. Start in historic Y-bor City, once known as the “Cigar Capital of the World”. Its cobblestone streets are packed with craft breweries and cigar shops. Once you’ve picked up some souvenirs, make time to check out downtown St Petersburg with its glamorous boutiques and sophisticated eateries. Don’t miss the Morning Market on a Saturday.

There’s plenty of family fun to be had here, too. Kids and adults alike will fall for the Aquarium, which has been rated as one of the country’s best. Or, take a trip to Adventure Island, which offers over 30 acres of thrilling rides and attractions, including a wave pool and a lazy river. Perfect for unleashing your inner child and cooling off from the Tampa heat.

If you’re in the mood to soak up some culture, you’re in luck: this Florida city is home to an array of fascinating museums. The Dalí Museum is one of our favourites, and it’s where you’ll find an impressive amount of the famous Spanish artist’s works. The Tampa Bay History Center digs into the city’s past, from the Seminole and Miccosukee people to the Cuban community.
And who could visit Florida without a trip to the beach? The Gulf Coast is home to some of the most awe-inspiring in America. We’d recommend Clearwater Beach, with its shallow water and selection of hotels, bars and shops. Get out on the waves in a kayak at Fort de Soto Beach.

Tampa enjoys a warm climate, with 246 sunny days a year. The coldest month in Tampa is January (with temperatures averaging at 22 degrees) while the warmest is August, enjoying temperatures of 33 degrees.

Depending on the time of year you’re sailing to Tampa, you should pack. lightweight clothing to keep you cool, such as cotton T-shirts and shorts. Layers like jumpers and cardigans are a good idea for cool evenings, and you might also want to bring along swimwear and comfortable walking shoes.
