The medieval port city of Koper sits on the coast of Slovenia. Home to a charming old town, you’ll find plenty of fascinating architectural gems here. Start with Praetorian Palace, which dates back to the 15th-century and features a classic gothic-Venetian style. Elsewhere you’ll find Tito Square (or Tito Trg, as it’s known in Slovenian), which is the city’s main hub. It also showcases a photogenic Venetian style that’s been remarkably well-preserved over the centuries. Take a stroll from the square in any direction to stumble upon historically significant buildings, such as the Carmine Rotunda Church or Cathedral of St Nazarius. On one of our Koper cruises, why not spend the afternoon wine tasting? Vinakoper is a winery and vineyard celebrating a thousand year-long tradition of wine-making. The first wines were made on the site way back in 1947, and today you can take a tour of the cellars, participate in tastings and dine in style at the restaurant. Koper is also part of the idyllic Slovene Riviera, which stretches along the coast for almost 50km. The Riviera also comprises the town of Piran, which features 7th-century walls and lively town squares and is just half an hour’s drive from Koper.
