Singapore highlights: contrasts, surprises, shopping
Singapore has become confident in its status as an up and coming destination. This is evident in everything from the supersize shopping malls and hotels to the ultra-modern cocktail and cuisine scene.
Contrast this with the many street markets and temples, and you’re close to pinpointing the epicentre of Singapore’s charm – its contrasts. It might not be the first place you’d expect to find nature at its best, for instance, but Singapore (nicknamed “city in a garden”) is home to a number of unexpected natural wonders.
Just a short bus ride out of the city you’ll find ancient rainforests teeming with wildlife. Within the city itself are magnificent botanical gardens where you can relax in 74 hectares of tamed wilderness. We recommend the beautiful Orchid Garden.
We’ll take you sailing into Singapore on your Asia cruise, giving you the chance to explore its many sights for yourself.
Weather & what to pack
With a tropical climate, Singapore stays hot and humid all year round with average temperatures around 31 degrees Celsius. Pack light cotton layers that you can take off and put on as you need to, especially as your Celebrity Cruises ship is bound to be refreshingly cool after a day of exploring in the heat.
Singapore also experiences quite a bit of rainfall, so pack a light waterproof with a hood to protect yourself from any sudden downpours.
