AMSTERDAM CRUISES

AMSTERDAM HIGHLIGHTS

Outdoorsy, cultural, cosy.

A true capital of culture, Amsterdam is a must-see when it comes to Europe, offering an experience unlike any other you’ll find on the continent. An Amsterdam cruise is the ideal way to see this vibrant city too, enabling you to combine it with a journey around the British Isles, or further afield across the likes of Scandinavia and Russia. Whatever you choose, it is certain to be a highlight.

There’s many reasons for this, but if you enjoy a good bike ride, seeing Amsterdam on two wheels will definitely be one. It is one of the best cities in the world to explore by bicycle. Its dedicated lanes and flat landscape mean that cycling is safe and easy. Exploring the city the “Dutch way” is the perfect opportunity to stretch your sea legs during your Amsterdam cruise!

In addition to the pedal power of this picturesque city, you’re also spoilt for choice on a cruise to Amsterdam if you love the arts. There’s an iconic museum or gallery in every direction – including the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum, which counts Rembrandts and Vermeers among its many masterpieces. In truth, you don’t even need to visit a museum to see a masterpiece, with its renowned tulips lining the canals and city streets, bringing bursts of colour to every corner. It’s no surprise Amsterdam is held in such high regard from artists all around the world!

For some, the city might also come with the preconception that its fast-paced, bustling and always ready for a party. However, you’ll actually find that Amsterdam has “Gezellig”, a famous Dutch quality meaning cosiness, in abundance. It’s hard to pinpoint, but if you find yourself in one of its renowned “brown cafes” (named so due to their distinctive all wooden décor), savouring a beer in soft candlelight – you’re pretty close. Taking a moment to sit and take everything in canal-side is yet another way to relax and really savour why the city has always been so popular.

The start of a wider European cruise, or a highlight all of its own, Amsterdam cruises offer an eclectic mix of culture, long bike rides and cosiness – the ideal blend for any cruise.
