Sun-kissed Punta Cana sits at the very easternmost tip of the Dominican Republic. Beaches are very much a way of life here: there’s an impressive 32km to choose from. Perhaps it’s no wonder that together with the popular Bávaro, the area is referred to as la Costa del Coco – or the coconut coast. Bavaro Beach is a great place to start on Punta Cana cruises. It’s the sort that holiday daydreams are made of, with fine white sand and crystal clear waters to paddle in. Arena Gorda is another solid choice, with the added benefit of water sports and plenty of beach bars to choose from. If you like to balance out your sun worshipping with exploring, you’re in luck: there are plenty of ways to satisfy your wanderlust here in Punta Cana. Scape Park is a theme park in a natural setting, offering cave explorations, zip-lining and more. Or, perhaps you’ll choose to hit the water and go scuba diving? Golf lovers can head to the Cocotal Golf and Country Club, which offers a 27-hole course as well as a slick clubhouse and pool. As the sun goes down, stop for a Cuba Libre on the sand on Los Corales beach, which also has a coral reef for snorkelling in.
