For warm, sunny weather but without the crowds the best times to take a cruise from Southampton are generally between April and June and September and October. If you’re planning on bringing the whole family along, you can’t beat our summer sailings around the stunning Mediterranean.

Southampton has long since been one of the UK’s most important ports. Start your holiday before you even step foot onboard by immersing yourself in the city’s history – admire vintage aircraft at the Solent Sky Museum, discover 19th century penny farthing bikes at the Tudor House and Museum or soak up some contemporary British art at the Southampton City Art Gallery.

The most important factor to consider when packing for your cruise from Southampton is where you’ll be sailing to. Northern Europe can get cold, so make sure to bring plenty of warm layers, waterproofs and sensible walking shoes. For the Mediterranean, prepare for the sun-kissed climate by bringing plenty of sun cream, light cotton clothing and swimwear. The weather in Southampton is typical of the British climate, with winter temperatures averaging at six degrees and summer temperatures hovering at 17 degrees.

Southampton Airport is 5.2 miles (8km) from the cruise terminal, located to the north of the city centre. You can reach the cruise terminal by taxi (18 minutes), bus (50 minutes) or train (30 minutes).
From Southampton Airport, you can take a taxi directly to the cruise terminal. Alternatively, catch a Cross Country train from the Southampton Airport Parkway to Southampton Central. From here, there’s a bus stop two minutes away. Catch the U1C and get off at Telephone House, and the cruise terminal is three minutes’ walk away. You can also catch the U1C straight from Southampton Airport Parkway to Telephone House.
To get from the cruise terminal to Southampton Airport by bus, walk to the Platform Tavern bus stop (four minutes’ away) and catch the U1W to Central Station. From here, walk to Southampton Central Station and catch a London train for seven minutes to reach Southampton Airport Parkway. You can also catch a taxi directly from the cruise terminal to the airport.
Celebrity Cruises uses the City Cruise Terminal. City Cruise Terminal is easy to access by car or bus. By car, travel towards the Western Docks on the A33. City Cruise Terminal is by Dock Gate 10. The terminal is under a mile from Southampton Central train station.
Southampton is easily accessible from London. From Waterloo, you can catch a train towards Weymouth. A 1 hour 15-minute journey will take you to Southampton Central. By car, Southampton is a two-hour journey from London. You can catch a bus from Victoria Coach Station, which will get you to Southampton in two and a half hours.
The maximum luggage allowance for guests boarding our ships is 90kg per guest. If you are sailing on a Transatlantic cruise from Southmapton and have booked a fly cruise package, your luggage allowance will be limited to the allowance specified by the airline.
Celebrity Silhouette® sails from our port in Southampton between May and October. Celebrity Apex℠, our brand new ship will be making her debut from Southampton from April - May 2020.
