China highlights: vast, mysterious, ancient
If the energy, history and spirit of China don’t awaken your sense of adventure, we’re not sure what will! In fact, it’s one of the most popular destinations on our Asia cruise itineraries. Experiencing China by cruise will reveal its rugged coast and bustling cities, while a calm sanctuary awaits you onboard when the day is done.
On your China cruise, we take you to Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tianjin. Exploring the dynamic and glamorous Shanghai is a must – there’s so much to enjoy. Browse Shanghai’s famous Old Street, where you will find stores that are over 100 years old. Then explore the Yuyuan Gardens and Bazaar and Jade Buddha temples to connect to ancient China.
Let’s not forget the cuisine of china. We love Chinese food here in the UK, but eating authentic fare with one of China’s glittering skylines as your backdrop is an experience you can’t miss.
Weather & what to pack
China crosses many degrees of latitude, so has a varied climate, depending on where you visit and at what time of year. Shanghai is mild yet moist and humid, with temperatures reaching over 35 degrees Celsius in July and August.
It’s a good idea to pack some comfortable walking shoes, and waterproof clothing. In humid months, you’ll need light cotton layers and a sunhat.
