The Geiranger Fjord

When our Norwegian cruise docks in the Geiranger Fjord, you’ll be treated to a site of extremes; with opportunities to explore both high and low. At water level, kayak tours take you right up to the steep edges of the mountainsides by paddle, for a close-up view of nature’s majesty.

Far above the water, the Ørnevegen (the Eagle Road) viewing site offers breathtaking views of the fjord valley that’s been dramatically hewn from the landscape over millions of years.

Alesund

Alesund is a picturesque port with a distinctly Art Nouveau feel. With the Aksla Mountain overlooking the town, there’s no shortage of magnificent views. After you’ve taken the 418 steps up Aksla to the viewing point, retire to Alesund’s centre for a beverage in a suave coffee bar or a delightful café.

Before you set off on the next leg of your Norwegian cruise, make sure to visit the Sunnmøre Museum to peruse the collection of 40 historic boats, including impressive vessels from Viking-era.

Bergen

Norway’s second largest city is often referred to as the country’s Western capital, and it’s easy to see why – glacial scenery, the finest Baroque art and Edvard Grieg’s home and gardens, make this a ‘must-see’ on any cruise to Norway. Perfect for any cultural enthusiasts, the timber-clad houses and narrow streets are a reminder of old Norway, and the magical Bryggen buildings are a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.

The museums are second to none and very popular on Norway cruises, the popular Fløibanen cable railway ascends the mountain of Fløyen for astonishing views of the city and fjord, while the Hanseatic museum offer an intimate glimpse into Norwegian life as it once was. Other must-see sights include the ancient St Mary’s Church, the impressive art collections in Bergen Art Museum and the Contemporary Art Centre.
